On August 15th, a group of us beat the heat and had a great time at Pistons on the Square in Georgetown. Since Pistons starts early (8am), we were able to enjoy ourselves and photograph happily before it got too hot. Y’all know how I feel about getting out the door early: IT WAS WORTH IT. In fact, I am eagerly waiting for the next free third Saturday morning I have so I can go again!
The regulars said that there were a lot more cars in attendance than usual. It certainly seemed like it compared to the number I recall from my previous (first) visit to the event. But whether the group was large or small, they were all looking their best and my goodness it was a terrific morning for instant film.
We had a good group of people, and while not all of them had instant cameras, they all seemed to have a good time. I’ve seen some of their photos on Instagram, so I know that the photo gods were kind to them also!
(Not that I believe in photo gods)
I was happy to see some motorcycles among the cars. Motorcycles used to be a little bit of a series for me, ages ago when I lived overseas. . . . . of course now that I think about it maybe a lot of those were scooters. Vespas. etc
True to form, I enjoyed looking at and photographing the attendees just as much (ok maybe more) as the cars. A doggo in a tutu? YES.
I debated sharing the above photo since I bleed burnt orange and the truck not only said “horns down” on it – maybe even on the license plate (really, people?) – but had a defaced longhorn on the trailer hitch. Sigh. I didn’t notice that before I made the photo: all I saw was trucks and hats. I try to have my lens be impartial!
