On Saturday, August 8th, I went to check out a couple of local events that sounded like they should be photographically interesting. The smart thing to do would have been to arrive at 8am (if they were up and running at 8am, which I suspect they were not), but I like to have coffee on the patio with my family in the morning and I honestly value that more than a photographic outing that doesn’t require me arriving at a specific time. So, I arrived at more like 11:15 instead.
It was hot as blue blazes outside, and most of the attendees were clustered in the shade around the square. Quite rightly! It was market days in Georgetown, and some of my favorite people were out and about: the Williamson Museum was having their Cattleman’s Trail and School Supply Drive event. This meant cowboys, and cowboy accoutrement!
They had a whole table set up with all kinds of wonderful wild west wares, and I had a good time making still-life photos with my Canon M6.
I also managed to make some street photographs while wandering in the shade. All of these are with my M6, straight out of the camera because apparently that’s how I roll these days! Y’all will have to wait to see the 35mm film from today; it was so hot I didn’t even finish the roll that was already in my camera.
After Georgetown, I ventured to downtown Round Rock to check out their new Arts Fest (previously always in October). I have to admit I didn’t last more than half an hour at this one! I did make a few photographs before I needed to get back into the truck and turn on the AC.
Sun and shade, light and shadow! Will I venture out earlier next time? I doubt it. A short walk around photographing is better than no walk around at all. Thanks for looking!
