Friends, I am thrilled to report that the workshop I led at Berry Springs park on June 13 was a great success! A woman I worked with many years ago had a saying: “the right people will show up.” I think about her words often, and on that Saturday morning the right people were there! I made the above group Polaroid before everybody went their own way to explore and photograph.
Linda Nickell made this reel from short videos she recorded on her phone, and it also showcases work from tade by participants.
I’ve had a lot of people asking me when my next workshop will be, and I’m happy to announce TWO upcoming ones, with more in the works.
First up is more of a class than a workshop, but it will still be packed with the kind of information that will get you excited about working in black & white, and plenty of suggestions and practical knowledge to help you deepen your experience in the genre. Participants will walk away with a fire in their creative bellies 9 shades of grey. This class is built to accommodate both digital and film photographers. It’s at Precision Camera and Video in Austin, on Saturday, August 1, 11am-1pm. You can find out more about it and register below:

My other currently scheduled workshop will be back at Berry Springs Park and Preserve, in a different (and more comfortable!) season. Saturday, November 7, 8:30-11:30 am, please join me as we delve into the realm of black and white photography. Participants will walk away with practical tools for working more intentionally in black and white, with hands-on practice, sharing, and feedback built into the day. The park is wonderful in November. . . ok it’s wonderful every month of the year, but can you feel the fall breeze from here? I look forward to working with everyone who chooses to attend!
To register, please contact me. Class size is limited to 8 participants, and the price is $125 per person.
