Frugal Film Project: April

As I suspected might happen, in spite of my best intentions to photograph only Waco for my Frugal Film Project this year: I didn’t make it during the month of April. Instead, once I realized my monthly trip out of town wasn’t going to happen, I went to the Texas State Cemetery in Austin. For months my teen and I had planned to go there to photograph, and it finally happened!

We had a good day for it: not too hot, and also a weekday when there was no school, which meant no weekend crowds in East Austin (easy parking, yay!). I’m really happy with how the photographs came out, but then again it’s such a lovely setting I feel like it lends itself to good moody photos automatically.

I loaded my Diana F with Kentmere Pan 400 and put it on the 16 frame setting but without the 16 frame mask. So I ended up with a lot of overlap, but this was my intention.

When I scanned the negatives, I found a few that made interesting panoramics, thanks to the overlap.

Graveyards aren’t normally my jam, and maybe I’ve said this before, but I am glad to have more of a reason to visit them these days. Aside from the photographic possibilities, it’s nice to have the chance to honor the dead by reading and saying their names.

Thank you for looking! And please if you have any input on how this FIRST POST on my NEW WEBSITE looks / comes across / etc, I am all ears!
