Frugal Film Project, July

Playing catch up! Here comes my July roll of Holga film, put through my Holga 120N, for the Frugal Film Project. With any luck, I’ll be able to share August’s roll in September!

This roll of film was exposed during my second road trip of the summer, spent in North Carolina and then the drive home across the south to Texas. We went to the Outer Banks, which was incredible! I had no idea when my boyfriend spoke about going to Nag’s Head that it would take us there, and to Cape Hatteras, then to Roanoke Island. I feel very fortunate to have been able to see those amazing places!

The beach at Nag’s Head was gorgeous – as it was all the way down the National Seashore to the tip of the island. We stayed at an old, classic motel right on the beach. It was pretty terrific to be able to walk there with our coffee and not even have to put on shoes (or move the truck).

Weather / lighting conditions being better, it was a bit easier to use the Holga. The film looks traumatized as ever, but that’s possibly a combination of my poor efforts at developing it and the special quirks / characteristics of the stock itself.

We also stayed in the mountains and camped a couple of places on our way back, including at the wonderfully named Bean Pot Campground in Tennessee. It was quite a summer, y’all! Thank you for being here, and for taking a look at these photos!
