At long last, today I’m sharing my Frugal Film Project roll from June! I took the roll of film with me on the road that month, and I used it in Colorado. It just took me until a couple of days ago to get around to processing it.
It rained every day (and sometimes also sleet-hailed) while we were in Colorado this year, so using a light-hungry film in a camera that’s not the best light-grabber was a challenge. I resorted to a lot of multiple exposures, and a lot of waiting.
In thinking about what I might like to do for Frugal Film next year, I had initially decided on re-rolling Kentmere Pan onto 620 spools and using my Brownie Hawkeye. However, after my experiences with challenging weather this year, and considering how frustrating it can be using a Holga in less-than-ideal conditions, I am now thinking I would rather go with a camera that has more exposure control to it. I can’t count on only sunny AND not boiling hot days! Not for a whole year.
It’s only the end of summer now, and who knows what I will have decided by the time January rolls around. There’s a lovely newly-gifted-to-me Nikon FG20 in my house that my boyfriend scored for $50 (with the lens!) so I have a contender when it comes to a 35mm camera for the project. I have July’s roll ready to share with you soon too, and I have a plan for exposing one for August that won’t involve me being out in the heat for any extended periods of time – because it’s been a hot one y’all!
Thank you for looking!
