NEWS! A New Project!!

HELLO from a woman who is grateful to be home again after two big adventures this summer! I have more new work than I know what to do with. Between travels I managed to get the film from trip 1 developed (and scanned, phew) but none of the scans have been looked at since and here I am now with a lot more. In part, this is because my second journey was two trips in one. First, I went to Nantucket (I flew on a plane! I never fly so this was a Big Deal. I also rented a car, speaking of things I never do.) Below you can see the results of July 2-6 on the island plus some time on Cape Cod.

After Massachusetts, I flew to Raleigh and spent time with my North Carolina family (and my North Carolina man, who fortunately resides in Texas because long distance relationships are for the birds y’all). We were in the central part of the state, then we drove up north and spent a couple of days on the Outer Banks, where I quickly learned what OBX stands for. On the road trip home, we went down the Blue Ridge Parkway, into Great Smoky Mountains National Park, then on into Tennessee and Arkansas and did some camping and let me just say now how amazing my own house and bed are. Below you can see the crop of goodness I brought home from that portion of the journey (July 6-16):

So I have a lot of processing and scanning ahead of me, in more ways than one! I’ve started on the instant film because I’m not just home to flop on the sofa – oh no of course not – I’m home to launch into something super exciting. I’m taking part in a 30/30 project for Tupelo Press, which means I’m going to write and publish a poem every day during the month of August, which they will publish on their website, and in return for all their amazingness I am also endeavoring to raise $350 for them. They are a non-profit, an independent publisher: these are good things!

You can read me gushing about the project on my poetry website here: I am so very grateful for this opportunity, and hoping to do a good job for them!

If you have a few extra bucks to throw in to help a non-profit, here’s my fundraising link.

Since I’m planning on using instant photos from my trips (including Colorado / New Mexico in June), here’s a little teaser: the instants I’ve shared on my Instagram lately. There aren’t many, but it’s been a busy time and fear not y’all will get to see plenty more! As you can see, I was excited to use some of Polaroid’s Reclaimed Blue film.

Thank you, friends, for having a look at this post! I hope you will follow along with me on my new project, and I’ll be back again hopefully soon with oodles of photos to share with you.

On your film, do you process yourself or have a lab. I know labs are hard to find these days.
