Just a couple of bits of news about things I’ve been up to lately (besides avoiding the backlog of color film I need to develop):
Austin, TX – 35mm photo
I curated an online exhibition for Analog Forever Zine! If you don’t know about this publication, you should definitely check it out. The print copy they send out is GORGEOUS and well worth a subscription; it’s not your average magazine, it’s the kind of thing you want to find a place on your shelf to keep. It’s like getting a beautiful new photo book in the mail 4 times a year.
First and foremost I was thrilled that they asked me in the first place. In my mind, curation for them is done by artists who are in a much higher echelon than me, and who are far more important in the ever mercurial world of Fine Art Photography. So just being asked took me by complete surprise, and I was delighted! They (specifically I corresponded with Michael Kirchoff, who is super talented and if you don’t know his work YOU SHOULD) were kind enough to let me pick my own theme, and even geek out and write a poem to go along with the call for art. Below is a link where you can see the exhibition itself, and read my comments on the curation process (it’s worth looking at for the sake of all the wonderful photographs people submitted)

In other news, I have one photograph in Round Rock Arts’ “Art of Thy Selfie” exhibition – you can see the info here. Saturday April 23rd from 10-3 they are having an open house. Local peeps: I hope you can drop by! I won’t be able to be there myself, but the art will and I’m sure plenty of great artists will be hanging out for you to talk to – because artists love to be asked about their work when they are hanging around feeling awkward and wondering what the heck else to do at an art exhibit. (Hint hint – no I’m not speaking from experience at all).
That’s all for now, folks! Thanks for lending me your eyeballs for a few minutes!
