I went out
in the beautiful light
of the late afternoon
on the last
day of the year
I wasn’t seeking
specifically
just walking
and looking
There at the reservoir
was the Great White Bird
whom I had seen
before
but always
when in passing
at speed
no stopping
no camera
There it was
stoic
among the fishermen
reflecting
the dream of the sky
in the water
Photographs made with a Kodak Brownie camera and Tri-X. The negatives are, quite frankly, a mess, and I hope to see the bird again when I have a camera with me that will give me sharper focus. But special gifts arrive in their own time, not in mine! PS I’ve totally rekindled the poetry obsession of my teens – sorry, not sorry.
