Many moons ago, when my daughter and I started cranking out Cyanimals, we discussed the idea of making a book. Not having any clue how to actually go about this, the notion sat on the shelf for a long time, while we made more and more of the pieces and even had a show. I met with a friend who has experience making books, but even that didn’t manage to bring the project to fruition in my mind. Last summer we had a second show, and for that I quickly pulled a rabbit out of a hat and made a zine – smaller in size, more manageable, in my head anyway – but wasn’t able to make the end product happen in time for us to have them available while the artwork was up for display. I did print one copy, for us, in which a typo was quickly discovered.
Now, at last, a couple of days ago, with the holidays in mind and the fact that I had promised my daughter that someday we would publish our little book for real, I revisited the project, corrected the typo, and am pleased to present you with it: Cyanimals, a zine by the two of us, with my cyanotypes (plus one of hers) and her accompanying poems.
